Gladhys is currently majoring in Psychology at the University of Indonesia and is very active in theater. She started acting for the stage in high school. “Pria” is her screen acting debut. For Gladhys, “Gita is not a typical village girl who’s obedient. She definitely has dreams. Unfortunately, she has to disregard them to make her father (the person she loves most in the world) happy. As an actress, being Gita needs an extra level of research in how a village girl wants to be obedient but at the same time independent. It’s a tricky balance and I didn’t want her to come off as one dimensional or some damsel in distress.”
Legendary television actress Karlina Inawati was born on March 1st, 1966 in Ponorogo, Indonesia. She’s graced the small screen in more than 80 Indonesian television dramas and is known as the “Queen Mother of Drama.” Her silver screen debut was in the award winning Indonesian Cannes entry, Pasir Berbisik, starring the Meryl Streep of Indonesia, Christine Hakim. On the role of Ros, Karlina states that “She’s definitely a [helicopter] mom in every sense of the word. Her world is her son and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for him. Because of that, she may seem a little too deranged for people in her community. She mothers her son as if he was still 8 years old when in reality, she’s the one who’s probably the hyper emotional child that Aris needs to take care of.”
